The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin was a fascinating human being. I learned a lot from his autobiography. What I admire the most from him is his self-governance. It's just unbelievable!
- I learned that "nothing is useful if it isn't honest", when something isn't honest it's not authentic, it has no value. I think that we are more satisfied with ourselves when we act honestly.
- Before speaking we have to arrange our thoughts, we must be like Socrates: an inquirer and doubter. We must always express modestly, an example could be: I imagine this to be...
- "Reason enables one to find or make a reason for everything one has a mind to do".
- The mind has different fields of cultivation.
- Every single virtue (picture below) kept me thinking and reflecting, I think they all are very powerful and significant to me. I love them.
- Make your schedule and set of habits, it's better to have something written to remind us what we want to accomplish.
- We have to understand that sometimes we'll be right and sometimes we'll be wrong. Every individual has his/her own views. "One man of tolerable abilities may work great changes and accomplish great affairs among mankind".
- We must have a good plan and focus on it in order to achieve it.
- No one takes away your education. You don't need anyone to be educated, you can quit ignorance by yourself.
- Always rend accounts, clear and punctual. It demonstrates your responsibility and people trust you forever.
- Fix your things in Earth.
- We enjoy the inventions of many people, and we all have the opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours.
- Human felicity is more about the little advantages that occur everyday.
- Be active not passive. "Some people are always on horseback but never ride on!"
- We don't know all the ideas and experiences of others, so we cannot draw any conclusion from a person.
- Be perseverant, a free thinker and experiment.
