I started this day with the unique expectation that I was going to be productive, and I was. Somehow today I felt this thirst for accomplishing something and to make it the best I could. The morning meeting was very fun, I realized that I'm not a really bad drawer with the eyes closed. The thing I love about morning meetings is that we get a space to share creative activities or inspiring videos, it's like fuel for our day. They make me start the day with a positive attitude towards learning and doing something for my own learning. I realized that being in front of the window, and of course by the influence of everything we've watched, read and learned, I appreciate more the nature that's in front of me. It's just mesmerizing to see how other living things exist and form a vital part of our universe, and sometimes we're not even aware of them. I'm planning to have "adventures on nature" during my vacations, it would be fantastic to be more present and to have more contact with our world.
"To fear death, gentlemen, is no other than to think oneself wise when one is not, to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows whether death may not be the greatest of all blessings for a man, yet men fear it as if they knew that is the greatest of all evils. And surely it is the most blameworthy ignorance to believe that one knows what one does not know". -The Apology: Plato.
Why do human beings fear death, the unknown? Why would you fear something that you don’t know? I think that most people fear everything they don't know because of uncertainty, what I mean is that human beings always want to feel safe and for some people only the known is a safe place. This dialogue reminded me of The Future and its Enemies by Virginia Postrel because it comes down to the same theme: The fear of the unknown. I think it's natural to fear what one doesn't know, however is quite dumb to do it because sometimes you loose experiences because of your fear. In conclusion, I think that we don't have to fear what we really don't know, instead we should see it with curious eyes. I liked something Bert said: "We can take the unknown into the known, which is called learning". It made me wonder, what is the source of action of a human being? What do we pursue in our existence? Of course, we all have a structure of beliefs based on what we want to accomplish. It stroke me the fact that we all have a certain type of faith in ourselves, we all want to be successful human beings. The dialogue then turned into the question: What is humility? Many mpc-ers gave their interpretation on humility, which lead to a bigger construction of our definition. Humility is understanding that you can learn form other people, is to have an openness to learning from anyone and of course to don't set above others as an authority or guardian.
