Day 21: 8th October, 2012
With Marce and Inés on the boat :)
Today we arrived at MPC and we signed some responsibility papers so that the university wasn't responsible of anything. We didn't have a formal morning meeting because everyone was organizing their own stuff. Around 8:00 a.m. we started picking up our stuff to walk towards the Atitrans bus. Before arriving there, I went to buy some breakfast at Nutripunto. Later on, we walked and walked but it was very far! So, Gabbi, Marce, Kata, Majo and I asked for a mini car at some maintenance workers of the UFM. It was great because we were missing a lot to get to the bus! Then when we we are set we started our journey towards the marvelous Lake Atitlán. I was very very tired so I slept almost all the road trip. Finally we arrived to a "mirador", where we took some pictures and appreciated the beauty of the lake. Then we arrived to the town where we where taking the boat to get to the hotel La Iguana Perdida. While being at the boat I thought about all that we had learned with Sam Bonis and I really reflected on what he had said and I actually appreciated more the volcanoes than ever. Finally, we arrived. The hotel is very pretty and simple, super ecological and it has all the basic necessities. It's very colorful and cozy. They organized us in rooms, I slept in a room of two people and my roommate was Marce. We then had a meeting with Bert and he told us to start reading The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. I read it in my room because it was raining a lot, I'm liking this book a lot because it feels real; I mean I've never read an autobiography before so I'm really into it even though the type of language he uses is quite complicated. After reading, we went to have dinner. What I love about the hotel is that the people that serve the food and drinks are very nice persons. They also told us that they have many activities in the hotel: yoga, scuba diving, weaving classes and spanish lessons. That's sad because I think we won't have free time, we'll be responsible beings that will advance on the handbook. After dinner, I spent my time with Alejo and Mabe singing; I really love the voice of both of them and what I love the most is listening to music. They told me that I should learn to play an instrument and sing as well. Maybe I'll do that someday, I really want to play the guitar. Then I went to sleep because I was very tired, however the noise of the rain and some mpc-ers wouldn't let me. So I called Javier Tabush and told him that I was trying to sleep, it was funny because I sounded like a grandma. Finally I fell asleep...
