Day 23: October 10th, 2012
Me at San Juan La Laguna :) the perfect place .
Today was an amazing day, I learned, discovered and experienced a lot. During morning meeting we discussed what we ere going to do during the day and our plans; we are doing astronomy today if the sky is clear!! After this, we had breakfast and share with other mpc-ers. I can feel that our culture is evolving every day more. I worked on my outline almost all morning, I think it's really turning into a real outline! We were also told that the answer of the question in the form of essay should be done for tomorrow at 11:00 a.m and also to keep up with Benjamin Franklin. I was very focused working on my outline and it was almost done when they called us for a meeting. Bert surprised us and told us that we were going to a town named San Juan la Laguna; he introduced it saying that it was a unique place, in which all the habitants agreed to be different from the rest; they created their own culture. And so we were going to visit it and to have lunch there. I was very excited because I love to know new places, and so I packed my camera and I was ready to go! We took a boat to arrive there, while I was on the boat I really observed all the beauty that the lake has. Of course, I took pictures of everything and of everyone. Finally we arrived, it was very different. There was art everywhere, and really good art. And so I started my tour very patiently with Pablito and Gabbi, we visited every single store. I appreciated the different drawings and paintings, the colors and the culture of this town. Then Pablito and I roamed by ourselves through the town, and so we met a lady that was weaving; she told us a little bit about her story. We spent like 15 minutes with her just talking about how she learned to weave. Later on, we visited an incredible place where they were adding color to the fabrics. Another lady told us about it and shared her knowledge with us. It's amazing that they paint the fabric with plants or natural resources. It was a wonderful experience to watch how they do it, there was fabric all around us. Then we arrived to another store, where we met an old lady that was very passionate about her work. She told us that the town has been evolving impressively and that she was very happy; also that she weaves in a very ancient way an that her family is learning so that the tradition never ends. Then we arrived to El Artesano, a very vintage and antique restaurant. The decoration was incredible and so was the environment. They even had a library and I found Atlas Shrugged, just imagine my reaction! I love that book, and the edition was different. So we opened it and explore it a little bit and we found some old receipts with the names of the characters of the book. I shared lunch time with Diego, Gabbi, Pablito and Marce. We ordered a table of cheese, a caprese salad and paté. We waited around 2 hours, but believe me the wait was totally worth it! The cheese was just the best cheese I've ever had, and so was everything. As Marce said: that's the definition of paradise for me. And so we were delighted by our food. Later we returned to the hotel and we continued our reading on Benjamin Franklin; Marce and I got together with Isa Gadala and kept on reading. We had fun and I think it was great to discuss our understanding about the reading with other people. We also talked about life and how do we se ourselves in 10 years or so. It was a great experience and then we've got the chance to do some astronomy! The sky opened for us, literally. It was amazing how much stars are out there, and what is more amazing is the apps that humans have invented to see the stars. It's unbelievable. I then gathered again with Isa Gadala, and Javier P and Chacho joined our reading. We had a lot of fun! And we bought a wine bottle to celebrate Isa's birthday. Today I noticed even more that I really love to read! At twelve we sung happy birthday to Isa and we went to change our clothes so we could swim in the lake. It was freezing! I was under water around 15 minutes and then I got out, went to my room, changed and instantly fell asleep...
